San Diego man accused of enticing an Iowa teen

June 11, 2014 By Dar Danielson

A San Diego, California man is accused of luring a teenage Baxter girl into his car Tuesday. Baxter Police Chief Steve Wright says 33-year-old David Lavera told the 14-year-old girl he was an actor from the “Twilight” movie.

The two had met in Newton in the past and had been communicating via Facebook. The girl’s mom, April Rousch, called police after her sister told her that the girl was picked up by Lavera. A friend saw Lavera’s car coming into Baxter and was able to get the girl out of the car. Deputies later arrested Lavera and found he had two swords and several daggers in his car.

Lavera is charged with enticing a minor, carrying weapons and failure to have a driver’s license. The Internet Movie Database says Lavera has been in at least 13 different movies.
