State regulators will decide today on a gambling license for Greene County at their meeting in Burlington.
Voters in Greene County approved a gambling referendum in August with 75-percent voting yes.

Developer Wild Rose Entertainment want to build $35 million complex at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Iowa Highway 4 on the north edge of Jefferson. Members of the Racing and Gaming Commission visited the site last month and held a public hearing on the proposal.

The commission said no in April to a new license for a proposed casino in Cedar Rapids — citing concerns about the impact on existing facilities. The chair of the commission said following the Cedar Rapids vote that this proposal is in a different market, and the no vote would not impact the Greene County decision.
