Des Moines Police say no charges will be filed in connection with a weekend crash that killed a motorcyclist. The crash happened just after 6 p.m. Saturday on Des Moines’ southeast side.

Police say the driver of an SUV, 20-year-old Brian Lundy of Des Moines, turned into a grocery store parking lot and an oncoming motorcycle clipped the rear of his vehicle. The motorcyclist, 29-year-old Shawn Sabin of Newton, died at a hospital. He was not wearing a helmet.

Investigators say a “significant contributing factor” to the accident was “excessive speed” on the part of the motorcycle and no charges will be filed against Lundy.
