Iowa graded on ‘friendliness’ toward small businesses

June 24, 2014 By O. Kay Henderson

Iowa gets high grades in the latest “Small Business Friendliness Survey.”

This is the third year in a row a website called Thumbtack and the Kansas City, Missouri-based Kauffman Foundation have collaborated on a list evaluating the environment for small businesses in each of the 50 states.

Iowa got an A- for its overall friendliness towards small business. The survey of small business owners in Iowa found women entrepreneurs were more optimistic than male entrepreneurs about Iowa’s economic outlook. The small business owners also gave Iowa high marks for the ease in starting a business and the state’s environmental regulations got an A grade from the business owners.
