Evacuations have been ordered for some low-lying rural portions of Johnson County as flood worries rise in the area.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that water from the Coralville Reservoir four miles north of Iowa City is predicted to start flowing over the spillway next week. That happened in the high-water years of 1993 and 2008.

Crews at the University of Iowa have erected barriers near where the floodwaters of 2008 hit on the Iowa City campus.

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors has issued mandatory evacuation orders for 11 small neighborhoods in rural areas along the Iowa River.
