Storm Lake toddler calls police as mom is attacked

July 2, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A 3-year-old who called 911 helped Storm Lake police make an arrest in a sexual assault case. Early Tuesday morning, police were dispatched to investigate an open phone line. They met with an adult woman and her three-year-old child.

Police learned 30-year-old Denis Reyes-Morales of Storm Lake allegedly entered the apartment and attacked the victim. The three-year-old called 911 during the mother’s attack. When police arrived, Reyes-Morales jumped out a second story window and fled.

Reyes-Morales was later located and charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree sexual abuse, and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse — and a hold was placed on him by Immigration.
