An official from the far east will be among the headliners at the second Iowa Teacher and Principal Leadership Symposium next month in Ankeny. Ee Ling Low is with the National Institute of Education in Singapore.

“High performing school systems around the globe use teacher leadership in different ways and Singapore has one of the biggest success stories,” says Iowa Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds.

Another speaker at the symposium is a consultant with the Asia Society, a group founded in 1956 to strengthen ties between Asia and the United States.

The Iowa Teacher and Principal Leadership Symposium will be held August 4 at the Des Moines Community College Campus in Ankeny. Officials from two Iowa schools that got federal grants to implement new teacher leadership systems in their districts last year will share their experiences. Iowa’s 2014 teacher of the year and principal of the year will also speak at the event. It costs $30 to attend the event. Online registration closes next Monday, July 21.
