Clear Lake school district reaches settlement in bullying case

The Clear Lake School District is making a cash settlement to the parent of a former student based on discrimination claims filed with the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. A payment of $50,000 was made to Tim Davidson on behalf of his son, 2014 graduate Spencer Davidson.

An agreement was reached between both parties which identifies bullying and harassment as the reason for the complaint. harassment student policy to include provisions to broaden the ways students may report complaints.

The settlement states the district says they continue to deny any and all liability upon Davidson’s allegations of wrongdoing.  Money used for the settlement came from the district’s management fund.
