Man shot in confrontation with Davenport police dies

August 14, 2014 By Matt Kelley

A man shot last night by Davenport police had died. A man in a home on Davenport’s west side called 9-1-1 about 10:30 saying he’d barricaded himself in a bedroom as another man was in the house threatening him with a knife.

Police responded and found the suspect who confronted the two officers. They told the man to drop the knife but he refused and allegedly threatened them, so both officers opened fire. The man later died at the hospital.

No names have been released. Both officers were placed on leave. The state DCI will investigate.
