“The Des Moines Public Schools were notified by family members last Friday the 17th of October, it was alleged that one of their employees had had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student. They turned that case over to us that same day,” Des Moines Police Sergeant Steve Woody.says.
He says detectives investigated the case over the weekend and that led to the arrest. “Dena Marie Konrad of Norwalk, Iowa was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee….and she was taken to the Polk County Jail and booked in on those charges,” according to Woody.
Konrad is 33-years-old, and is not a teacher, but does work for the school district. “They have a program called Success…she is a case manager for a school program rather than a teacher. However, she is still a school employee, that’s kind of what quantified those charges to be filed,” Woody explains.
Police are not releasing information on the male victim in the case.
