footballThe Wartburg football team closed out the season with a record of 12-1. The Knights fell to defending champion Wisconsin-Whitewater 37-33 in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA division three playoffs.

“I’m so proud of our guys for the consistency that they displayed week in and week out…our team showed up for 13 straight weeks, there’s no doubt about that,” Wartburg coach Rick Willis.

It was the final game for senior receiver Taylor Jacobsmeier who finished the season with 67 receptions and 9 touchdowns. He says they knew at the beginning of the year they had something special going with a lot of guys back. “We went to the second round last year and we weren’t going to settle for that. We set our sights on a big goal and we thought we could achieve it, and we came pretty close I guess,” Jacobsmeier says.
