Man shot and killed by Marshalltown police

A person has been critically injured in a shooting involving two Marshalltown Police Officers. It happened at 3:47 a.m. in a Marshalltown neighborhood just south of the downtown area.

Marshalltown Police Chief Michael Tupper says it took place outdoors, the suspect was critically wounded and was taken to a local hospital where the person died. Agents with the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation have been called to help with the investigation. The two officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation takes place.

Few other details about the incident are being released at this time.
