The Iowa State women rallied from a 7 point halftime deficit to edge eighth ranked Texas 58-57 in Austin. Nikki Moody’s two free throws with 17 seconds remaining provided the winning margin. It is the highest ranked opponent the Cyclones have ever beaten on the road.

“When you play Texas, there are certain things you know, they’re going to rebound, they’re going to be physical and you’ve got to be ready to compete. I thought early in the game we weren’t as engaged as we needed to be, but we were only down 7 at the half,” ISU coach Bill Fennelly said.

The Cyclones swept the season series with the Longhorns as they improve to 5-2 in the Big 12 and 14-4 overall. “To beat Texas twice in a season is a great accomplishment, they’re a great team and a team that is going to be a tough out in the NCAA tournament… but let’s make sure at the end of the year when people says ‘hey, what was the greatest point of the season,’ let’s hopefully not say beating Texas twice,” Fennelly said.
