winnebagoRembrandt Enterprises officials say they plan to construct a $92 million large-scale egg-processing plant in Winnebago County, creating 197 full-time jobs. The company currently has an egg-laying facility in the county near Thompson that employs 134 people.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority Board yesterday approved $9.7 million in tax credits to the company, with Rembrandt’s application saying the jobs created will pay at least $14.86 per hour plus benefits. The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors also approved a tax increment financing package for the new facility.

Construction of the new plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2015, with start-up of the facility planned for January 2016.
