Strong sales push already record Powerball jackpot higher

February 10, 2015 By Dar Danielson

PowerballPowerplayLogoThe Iowa Lottery says in a news release that strong sales in Iowa and across the country have pushed the Powerball jackpot even higher for Wednesday’s drawing. A spokesperson for the Iowa Lottery told Radio Iowa the jackpot was initially estimated at $450 million for Wednesday.

It was raised this afternoon to an estimated $485 million. A winning ticket would take home $327.7 million with the cash option. It still ranks as the third-largest jackpot in Powerball history and is still number 5 on the list of the largest lottery prizes ever offered in North America.
