Minnesota center tallies 39 points, 29 rebounds to help down Iowa women

February 18, 2015 By Todd Kimm

The 13th ranked Iowa Hawkeye women had no answer for Amanda Zahui B. in a 93-80 loss at Minnesota. The Gopher center poured in 39 points and hauled down a Big Ten record 29 rebounds.

“She’s an incredibly strong player, she was just shooting over us,” Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said. She said Minnesota’s perimeter shooting opened up the inside game as they shot 67 percent from 3 point range and that made it difficult. Bluder says they wanted to go into a zone, but couldn’t with the way the Gophers were shooting.

Iowa falls to 12-3 in the Big Ten and will visit Ohio State on Saturday. “Obviously we got them at our place but we know going to their place will be a whole different challenge,” Bluder says.
