The State Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death for the three victims in Sunday’s fatal house fire in Fort Dodge. Autopsies determined that 25-year-old Amy Devlin, her six-month-old son Bryce and five-year-old Joseph Kennedy all died from smoke inhalation.

Four other people in the rental home at the time of the fire escaped, and two are being treated for burns at University Hospitals in Iowa City. They have not been identified.

The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating and has not yet released a cause for the fire. The Fort Dodge fire chief says the cause fire is not believed to be suspicious.
