Police car lightsA nine-year-old eastern Iowa girl is safe and her alleged abductor is in custody. The Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Johnson County Sheriff’s office issued an Amber Alert Saturday afternoon for Brianna Crane of Solon. Her alleged abductor was her stepfather, 48-year-old Kenneth Johns. He was believed to possibly be armed and dangerous.

A third party dropped Brianna off early Sunday morning to police. She was uninjured. In the meantime, Davenport police had learned about 7 Saturday night that Johns was in Davenport. They worked throughout the night with the Iowa DCI to determine his whereabouts Sunday morning. After about 2 1/2 hours of negotiation, police say Johns’ dialogue becoming more threatening, and he taken into custody without incident. He was charged with parole violation, pending abduction charges from Johnson County.
