Testimony has ended in the murder case involving a 5-year-old girl killed in 2005. The defense rested after presenting its case today, saying the prosecution did not prove that 35-year-old Casey Fredrickson sexually abused and killed Evelyn Miller.

Fredrickson was dating Miller’s mother and was watching the girl in their Floyd apartment when she disappeared. Miller’s body was discovered in the Cedar River one week later.

The defense called three witnesses and took two hours before resting. Closing arguments are expected in the case on Tuesday. The trial was moved from Floyd County to Webster County due to all the publicity surrounding the case.
