Iowa State University’s athletic director had successful open heart bypass surgery Tuesday night. A news release this morning from ISU states the triple bypass procedure was a success and Jamie Pollard is expected to remain hospitalized at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines for several days.

The 50-year-old Pollard suffered a heart attack on Monday in Cedar Falls as he watched his daughters compete in a track meet. He spent Monday night in a Waterloo hospital before being transferred to Des Moines for the surgery on Tuesday.

In the ISU news release, the Pollard family issued a statement, thanking “the many individuals who prayed for Jamie and sent supportive messages as well as the outstanding medical teams which have been treating him.”
