Body found in lake could be missing Soldier man

March 16, 2015 By Matt Kelley

Fire-truckA body recovered from a western Iowa lake over the weekend is believed to be that of a man who was reported missing four months ago.

Sixty-six-year-old Walter Ordway of Soldier disappeared on November 17 and the Monona County Sheriff’s office reports the body pulled from a lake at Oldham Recreation Area on Saturday is likely that of Ordway.

His pickup was found by hunters near the recreation area back in December. Investigators believe Ordway fell through the ice-covered lake back in November while possibly trying to rescue his dog. The dog’s body was found nearby.
