Waterloo police shoot man who hit officer with car

April 6, 2015 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Waterloo-pdWaterloo police shot a motorist while trying to break up a large brawl outside a bar. An officer-involved shooting took place early Sunday morning in Waterloo in the parking lot of the New World Sports Lounge. Police were called to break a fight involving about 40 people. At one point, 27-year-old Javon Webb of Waterloo struck an officer with a car. Shots were then fired at the vehicle.

Webb is in critical, but stable condition at Unity Point Allen Hospital. The officer was treated and released. The Iowa DCI will investigate. Two officers, whose names have not been released, are on administrative leave.
