Hawkeye baseball team takes 2 out of 3 from Maryland

April 13, 2015 By Todd Kimm

tiger hawkThe 15th ranked Iowa Hawkeye baseball team has still not dropped a series this season. The Hawkeyes scored a run in the top of the seventh to take the lead for good in a 2-1 victory over 16th ranked Maryland as the Hawkeyes claimed two of three games in the Big Ten series.

The Hawkeyes improved to 8-1 in the Big Ten and 23-9 overall. “We are not in a great place offensively right now, but we are finding ways to win, that is what great teams do,” coach Rick Heller says. “Our pitching and defense are carrying us. There is no question in my mind, once we get home our bats are going to come around and everything will be fine.”

The Hawkeyes play 10 of their next 11 games at home.
