An arrest has been made and the victim identified in an early Wednesday morning shooting that killed a Burlington man. Twenty-eight-year-old Matthew Quinton Banks was shot multiple times at a house at 1204 Jefferson Street at around 1:23am Wednesday morning.
Police arrested and charged 43-year-old Maurice Green, also of Burlington, with first-degree murder. Green was arrested after fleeing to Galesburg, Illinois. He remains in the Knox County Jail awaiting extradition to Iowa. The Hawk Eye reports that several people close to the investigation say that the shooting occurred over a dice game.
The murder is the second in Burlington this year.
