One motorist was killed, another hurt, in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 18 west of Algona on Wednesday. The Iowa State Patrol reports 49-year-old Scott Alan Baker of Fenton was eastbound in a 2011 Toyota Camry when he crossed the centerline, entering the path of a 2011 Dodge Ram Pickup driven by 55-year-old Lavon Linn Kruse of Lone Rock. The two vehicles collided, coming to rest in the westbound lane.
Baker was pronounced dead at the scene while Kruse was air-lifted to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa and transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. The crash occurred around 7:45 Wednesday morning. The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Algona Fire and Ambulance, and Whittemore Fire and Ambulance all assisted on the scene. The state patrol is still investigating the crash.
