A Cedar Rapids man is now charged with murder after a fatal attack in a grocery store parking lot. After he was released from a Cedar Rapids hospital on Sunday, the murder charge was filed against 32-year-old Nicholas Luerkens. He’d been undergoing treatment for what police say were self-inflicted stab wounds following the attack on 29-year-old Lynnsey Donald in the Marion Hy-Vee parking lot last Tuesday.
Investigators say the two had lived together but were no longer a couple. Luerkens is in the Linn County Jail with bond set at one-million dollars.
