Trial underway for Prairie City babysitter in fatal dog attack on girl

May 7, 2015 By Radio Iowa Contributor

GavelOpening arguments in the trial of a Prairie City woman charged in a fatal dog attack on a child are underway. Authorities say 26-year-old Jena Marie Wright was babysitting 4-year-old Jordyn Arndt and her brother when she left Jordyn with her dog.

The American Stafforshire terrier attacked the girl and she died from injuries suffered in the attack. Wright is charged with child endangerment and neglect of a dependent person in connection with the dog attack. She is also charged with assault on a police officer and interference with official actions for allegedly running from a police officer and then struggling with and kicking the officer he tried to arrest her.
