Two dead in accident near Eddyville

Ambulance-Back-DoorTwo lives were lost when two pickups collided in southeast Iowa’s Mahaska County. Two people died and two were injured in a crash last evening around 6:30 p.m. on a rural road near Eddyville.

A pickup driven by 24-year-old Eric David Hansen of Oskaloosa failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck broadside by a pickup driven by 24-year-old Scotty Lee Van Polen of Fremont. Killed in the crash were Eric David Hansen of Oskaloosa, as well as a passenger in the Hansen pickup, 24-year-old Megan Marie Moser of Winfield.

Both occupants of the other pickup, 24-year-old Scotty Lee Van Polen and 27-year-old John Curtis Van Polen, both of Fremont, complained of pain after the accident, but were not taken to the hospital.
