Stellar Hawkeye baseball season comes to an end

June 1, 2015 By Todd Kimm

tiger hawkA banner season came to an end for the Iowa Hawkeye baseball team as they fell to Missouri State 3-2 in the championship round of an NCAA Regional in Springfield, Missouri. The Hawks advanced to the title round by edging Oregon 2-1 in 11 innings earlier on Sunday.

Senior Nick Hibbing came on in relief to get the win in that game and then started the game against Missouri State. He was named the MVP of the regional. “We didn’t pull it out, which was the number one thing, and that’s upsetting in itself,” Hibbing says. He says it was his last shot as a championship and he went out and tried to do whatever he could.

It was Iowa’s first NCAA appearance since 1990 and they close the season with a record of 41-19.
