Crime-sceneThe Clay County Sheriff’s Office in South Dakota and the Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating a suspicious death of a 29-year-old Sioux City woman who was found late Monday afternoon near the boat dock at Myron Grove on the Missouri River.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says the woman has been identified as Alicia Hummel. “We are doing everything we can from an investigation standpoint to determine what may have happened. Certainly like we do in all these instances — we treat these as suspicious until we find otherwise,” Jackley says.

Jackley says they are asking for the public’s help with information on any suspicious activity in this area on Monday afternoon between the hours of 1-3 p.m. He says they have a photograph and some basic information and they are asking anyone with any information to call the sheriff’s office. This suspicious activity may have involved a dark colored sedan with tinted windows and a loud exhaust system.

Jackley says several agencies are involved in the investigation. “It’s team effort, we are working with the sheriff’s office and DCI as well as other local authorities,” according to Jackley. Individuals with any information are asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 605-677-7100.

Authorities will update the investigation this afternoon at 5 p.m. at the Clay County Courthouse.
