Ashford University to close Clinton campus

July 10, 2015 By Radio Iowa Contributor

AshfordAshford University plans to close its campus in the eastern Iowa town of Clinton due to declining enrollment. Clinton’s mayor says his office had no advance notice of the closing, which was announced late on Thursday afternoon.

The parent company of Ashford, Bridgepoint Education, is based in San Diego, California. The company says the closing of the Clinton campus will not impact online programs for the university, nor a recruitment center that’s based in Clinton. The campus will close at the end of the 2015-’16 academic year.

Enrollment has reportedly fallen below 500 on the campus. The closing will impact about 150 employees.
