Vinton man killed in Benton County accident

Ambulance-genericThe Iowa State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Benton County. It happened around 11:20 Monday night on Highway 30.

A crash report from the patrol shows 61-year-old Michael Moore of Vinton was near his disabled vehicle on the shoulder of the highway when he entered the road and was struck by a car.

The driver of the car was identified as 18-year-old Cody Bergom of Belle Plaine. Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.
