An ethanol plant in northern Iowa is facing a fine for alleged environmental violations. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is imposing a $10,000 fine on Golden Grain Energy of Mason City.

DNR officials say the fuel production facility violated several air quality construction permits and its operating permit.

Golden Grain is accused of excess emissions and failing to keep required records, as well as failing to maintain equipment. The company was also fined in 2012 for air quality violations.
