A western Iowa man is facing charges in connection with the death of Logan woman earlier this month. The body of 50-year-old Charlotte Anderson was found on the side of a highway by law officers on the night of July 4th.

Alex Murphy, a spokesman for the Iowa Department of Public Safety, says an arrest warrant was issued Wednesday for Austin Arndt. The 25-year-old Arndt, who’s from Logan, turned himself in today and is now charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

The state medical examiner ruled Anderson’s death a homicide. Murphy says she was clearly hit by a vehicle. “From pieces of a bumper from a truck at the scene, they were able to match that up with a vehicle they found in Logan that had some front end damage,” Murphy said. It’s possible Arndt could face more charges.

“We do believe alcohol was a factor in this accident,” Murphy said.

After turning himself in at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, Arndt posted $25,000 bond and was released.
