Three brothers from New Sharon die in accident

Ambulance-genericThree young people  were killed in an accident in southeast Iowa’s Mahaska County. Reports say the three were from New Sharon and were brothers. They died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Queens Avenue and 130th Street east of New Sharon.

Ten-year-old Christian Singletary, 13-year-old Carson Singletary, and the driver of the car, 16-year-old Jamie Singletary died when the car they were riding in was struck by a rock truck driven by 41-year-old Shawn Schippers of New Sharon. Both vehicles came to rest in the west ditch.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
