Visitation set today for New Sharon brothers who died in accident

August 10, 2015 By Matt Kelley

A visitation will be held today for three brothers killed in a traffic accident last week in Mahaska County. The crash happened last Thursday afternoon, just a-quarter-mile from the boy’s home in rural New Sharon.

A car driven by 16-year-old Jamie Singletary collided with a rock truck at a gravel road intersection. Jamie was killed in the crash, along with his brothers, 13-year-old Carson and 10-year-old Christian. Tall crops at the intersection may’ve been a factor in the accident.

A GoFundMe page set up to help the family cover funeral expenses exceeded the $40,000 goal within one day. The visitation is taking place at North Mahaska High School beginning at 2 p.m., with family present from 4-8 p.m. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., also at North Mahaska High School.
