Men rescued after boat capsizes on Big Spirit Lake

DNR-signTwo people escaped injury in a boating mishap Tuesday afternoon in northwest Iowa. Jeff Morrison is with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. “A boat, for some reason, took on water and capsized on Big Spirit (Lake),” Morrison said.

The two men who were in the small boat were rescued from the water by another boater and no one was hurt. “Certainly the fact that the two gentlemen had life jackets on was a big factor in having this incident come out in a positive way,” Morrison said.

The capsized boat was also rescued. The names of the men have not been released. The reason why the boat flipped in the water is still under investigation.
