Luther College football coach Aaron Hafner hopes experience will help the program make even more progress this season. After posting a 2-8 record in Hafner’s first season at the helm in 2013 the Norse finished 5-5 a year ago and bring back a number of key players on both sides of the football.

“The big thing is our kids know what to expect when they come into camp”, said Hafner. “Our kids came into camp in great shape and there is a lot of energy and a lot of excitement going into the 2015 season.”

Luther’s entire offensive line returns from a triple-option attack that led the Iowa Conference in rushing at 341 yards per game but this year’s team will be led by a new quarterback. Three candidates are vying to replace JJ Sirios and Hafner says he has confidence in all three.

“We have to have more than one in our offense”, said Hafner. “Any of those three young men that we have to start we feel like can compete well on Saturdays.”

The Norse also got some additional practice time in May when the team traveled to Norway to play a game against the Norwegian National team. They open the season on September fourth with a visit to Wisconsin-La Crosse.
