Cedar Rapids police believe teen shot to death was targeted

September 7, 2015 By Dar Danielson

Crime-sceneThe Cedar Rapids Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a teenager Sunday evening as a homicide. Police officers were called to a southeast side address at 10:24 p.m. after a 15-year-old male showed up at the residence indicating that he had been shot.

The victim, Aaron Kyle Richardson of Cedar Rapids, was taken to the hospital where he died in surgery. Police says their ongoing investigation lead them to believe that the shooting was not a random act and Richardson appears to have been targeted.

Police are asking for the public’s help with information in this case. If you have information you are asked to call the Cedar Rapids Police Department at (319) 286-5491 or Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463).
