There was a time when a game against an FCS scholarship program would allow Drake to cash a hefty check and give the Bulldogs a chance to prove themselves against players from a larger division. Those days are gone.

The Bulldogs get set to visit North Dakota and with the winner of the Pioneer Football League getting an automatic bid into the FCS playoffs Drake coach Rick Fox says it is a game they need to play.

“We don’t have to prove ourselves to anybody. We have confidence in ourselves and who we are and we are going to go out and play our game”, said Fox. We feel like we can win the ballgame. It will be tough and we’ve got to play really well but it is more about what we do ourselves than it is about proving ourselves to somebody else.”

The Bulldogs will follow up Saturday’s game with a trip to South Dakota next week.

North Dakota is coming off a 24-13 win at Wyoming, the school’s first win against an FBS opponent while the Bulldogs opened with a 44-30 win over William Jewell.
