wx-graphic-9-28-15The calendar turns to October later this week and National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Skow says the weather will adjust accordingly.

“If you like summer, enjoy today because it’s probably going to be one of the last warm days we have left,” Skow said. High temperatures today will reach the upper 70s and low 80s before a cold front and rain moves into the state.

“For this afternoon, the biggest chance for rain will be across northern Iowa and that threat will gradually sink south across central and then southern Iowa late tonight and early Tuesday,” Skow said.

Once the front pushes through, it’ll be dry but much cooler for the remainder of the work week. “Some more seasonable, fall-like weather will arrive on the back side of this departing front, with highs dropping down into the 60s and lows in the 40s and maybe the upper 30s in northern Iowa,” Skow said.
