Hiawatha man admits to giving out fatal drug dose

October 19, 2015 By Dar Danielson

GavelAn eastern Iowa man has admitted to supplying the drugs that led to another man’s death. Thirty-one-year-old David Hudson of Hiwawatha admitted that he gave heroin to a man in a convenience store bathroom in January.

He admitted to watching the man, called R.R. in court documents, inject the heroin and then left the bathroom. The man overdosed and collapsed and died. Laboratory testing of drugs found next to the man showed they contained heroin and a powerful pain killer known as fentanyl.

Hudson pled guilty to distributing the drugs and is now waiting for a sentencing date. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of one million dollars.
