Police say the three-vehicle crash injured four and killed one person, whose name has not yet been released. Police say two westbound passenger cars were racing side-by-side.
Both cars struck the left side of an SUV that pulled out from the driveway of a business. A woman passenger in the SUV died. One of the alleged street racers, 37-year-old Timothy Bell of Davenport, and a female passenger received non-life threatening injuries.
The other alleged street racer, an as yet unnamed 17-year-old boy, was uninjured. Bell, who is hospitalized, will be charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving and drag racing. The juvenile driver is in the Scott County Juvenile Detention Center and faces numerous charges.
