Police say a man who was behind the wheel of an SUV that hit a school bus in northeast Iowa earlier this month was driving drunk.
A news release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety states 41-year-old Monte Klink of Arlington was arrested Thursday. He’s facing charges that include second-offense OWI and serious injury by vehicle in connection with the October 1st crash in Delaware County.
Authorities said Klink was driving an SUV that failed to yield at a rural intersection and struck a West Delaware Community School District bus, causing it to rollover. There were 32 students on board. As a precaution, they were all taken to a hospital for evaluation, but nearly all the injuries were minor.
Klink bonded out of the Delaware County Jail Thursday. His initial court appearance is scheduled for November 4.
