Where will Hawkeyes land in first playoff poll?

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz is a fan of the new College Football Playoff but he won’t put much stock into the first rankings the selection committee releases this evening.

Off to their first 8-0 start since 2009 the Hawkeyes expect to be included in the poll that will eventually determine which four teams will advance to the playoff.

“Of the top four teams last year at this time three of them did not make it to the dance and the team that won the national championship was 16th”, said Ferentz. “That’s why I would put it in the category of August polls. It doesn’t mean a lot right now”

Ferentz says it does not matter where the Hawkeyes are ranked if they don’t continue to win.

Iowa visits Indiana on Saturday. The Hoosiers are 0-4 in the Big Ten but it is not because of a lack of offense. They average 33 points and 467 yards per game.
