Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says revenge is not the motivation for the Hawkeyes as they prepare for Saturday’s game against Minnesota. The Gophers scored four second quarter touchdowns and hammered the Hawkeyes 51-14 a year ago, a low point in a season which finished with a 7-6 record.

Ferentz says there is nothing to avenge.

“I don’t blame them at all for what they did last year. They did what they were supposed to do and we didn’t”, said Ferentz. “We walked into one and got what we deserved. We got outcoached and outplayed anyway you want to slice it.”

Iowa has won the last six games against the Gophers in Kinnick Stadium but Ferentz says the home field will only be an advantage if they play well.

“We’ll have a great environment Saturday night there is no doubt about that but the fans can’t play the game and we will have to ready to go at kickoff.”

The Hawkeyes would be 10-0 for the first time with a victory.
