The Racing and Gaming Commission met in Altoona.

The Riverside Casino and the Rythm City Casino in Davenport were both fined $3,000 dollars by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission today for allowing a person who is banned from gambling into their operations.

Riverside Casino general manager, Dan Franz, addressed the issue with the commission.

“In this particular case we had an employee who simply failed to follow policy. We feel we have a pretty good process in place to be able to handle this kind of stuff. Actually something comes up on a screen and should identify that person as a banned patron,” Franz says.

He says they have taken the appropriate action to correct the problem. Franz says the employee was given a “performance development plan” and a two-day suspension.

Mo Hyder is the general manager of the Rythm City Casino, where a banned customer won a jackpot and was paid. “We certainly take compliance with regulatory matters very seriously,” Hyder says. “I am very disappointed with the sequence of events that occurred, but since then we have taken steps appropriate measures and put those in place to ensure that these things don’t happen again.”

The Racing and Gaming Commission issued the fines at their meeting in Altoona.
