November 23, 2015 By Matt Kelley

Police-lightsPolice say a domestic dispute in Des Moines turned violent Sunday night, leaving two family members dead and a third in the hospital. Dispatchers got a 911 call requesting help at a home on the capitol city’s east side about 7 P.M.

When emergency responders were in route, it was confirmed as a shooting. Police say 47-year-old Barney Fraaken shot and killed his wife and his teenage daughter.

Fraaken is in custody at a Des Moines hospital, recovering from self-inflicted injuries. His condition wasn’t released. The victims are identified as 42-year-old Amy Fraaken and the couple’s 16-year-old daughter, Amber.
