Des Moines police look for man following double murder

December 1, 2015 By Matt Kelley

Crime-scenePolice are looking for a man in connection with a double homicide in Des Moines. Police are calling 39-year-old Michael Wanchanic as a “person of interest” in the case.

The victims, 36-year-old Bryon Howard and 31-year-old Heather Belieu, were found dead inside a home on Des Moines’ west side Monday afternoon. Police are not saying how they died.

KCCI-TV reported Howard and Belieu were engaged and had two children together. Those children, an infant and a toddler, were taken out of the home by police as they responded to the scene. They were not injured.

Wanchanic is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He’s believed to be driving a beige-colored 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, Iowa license plate DMR 234.
