Saturday marks another year without an arrest in one of Iowa’s more disturbing unsolved crimes.

In July 2012, 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins and 10-year-old Lyric Cook disappeared while riding their bicycles near a lake in Evansdale.

Five months later, on December 5, the bodies of the cousins were found by hunters in Seven Bridges Wildlife Park, about 22 miles away in Bremer County. Hundreds of people have been interviewed by investigators over the past three years, but there have been no arrests in the case.

Authorities have not released the girls’ autopsy reports, saying the way the pair were killed is information only the killer would know.
